Amanda Parkhurst is the Creatress of Music and Magic Maine estabilshed in 2009 to provide musical instruments and creative opportunities to children in Maine.  

Amanda "Panda" has has presented over 100 children with instruments since 2009.  She started this organization in loving memory of her dear friend, and beloved musician Van Lawton who passed away unexpectly in October of 2009. 

Keeping Van's "MUSIC AND MAGIC" alive has been her passion since then.

Amanda is the mother of Dylan and Garcia. She has been trained in all areas of creative expression since childhood.  From a family of dancers and performers, Amanda began choreographing and instructing dance at age 12 at her mother's dance studio in Massachusetts. She opened her own studio The Dance Garden, a center for traditional and creative dance in NH after college. She closed the doors when she became pregnant with her second child and moved back to Maine to settle permanently.

Amanda is also experienced as a Dance and Movement therapist (years of work with at-risk teen girls in residential programs), and passionate about giving children all the tools they need to fully express themselves in this changing and challenging world.  

She is the creatress of ResistDance, an original solo dance company that has performed at rallies and social events throughout New England as well as abroad in Oaxaca, Mexico and at Festival Atitlan in Guatemala.

She has organized and directed non-profits, a production company, small businesses, and a trade association in Maine, and has a reputation for creating successful and interesting festivals and benefits across the state.  She has been employed at Waynflete Academy in Portland directing Summer Camps and the Gorham co-operative Preschool teaching music and movement enchrichment classes.
